Cazorla, 31, joined Villarreal as a teenager and played over 200 times for the club before leaving for Malaga in 2011 and then joining Arsenal a year later.
The Spain international, who has just over 12 months left on his current deal at Arsenal, said he remains a Villarreal supporter and is hoping to attend the second leg of their Europa League semifinal at Anfield a week on Thursday.
"I would not rule out returning to Villarreal [at some point]," he said in AS. "Everyone knows how special that club is for me.
"If I get permission from my club I will be attending the second leg at Anfield, as another 'groguet' ['yellow'] supporter."
Cazorla was a youngster at Villarreal when they lost out to Valencia in the 2003-04 UEFA Cup semifinals and to Arsenal in the 2006 Champions League semifinals, while he captained the Yellow Submarine side beaten 7-4 on aggregate by eventual winners Porto in the last four of the 2010-11 Europa League.
He said his former side could reach a European final for the first time in their history this season providing they play to potential against Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool side.
"It's a very even tie but I believe if Villarreal play as they can, they have a great chance to go through," Cazorla said. "Any team can suffer at Anfield, and they will suffer for sure. But they key to the tie will be [the first leg] at El Madrigal."
The midfielder, who has been sidelined with a knee injury since November, also suggested that Liverpool's pressing game was both a strength and a weakness.
"[Liverpool] have a clear philosophy, they are an intense team up front, they press very high up, but if Villarreal get past this pressure and can move the ball around, they will have made a lot of progress," he said.
He added that Philippe Coutinho is Liverpool's "best player," adding: "He makes the difference for them. A lot of their play goes through him."
