Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has said he believes Zlatan
Ibrahimovic would shine in any league as he prepares to face the PSG
star in European competition next week.
The 34-year-old Sweden international, who is out of contract with the Ligue 1 champions in the summer, has been linked with a move to the Premier League.
And Pellegrini said:
"Players with the quality of Zlatan can play in any league. He did very
well in Italy, France and Spain in an important team like Barcelona.
"Zlatan is a top player, and I am sure he would be very successful here also."
Pellegrini recalled being sunk by an Ibrahimovic goal during his time
at Real Madrid, losing 1-0 to Barcelona at the Camp Nou thanks to a
moment of inspiration from the striker six years ago.
He was later sacked as his side were beaten to the title by their
biggest rivals and said: "I have only faced Zlatan once -- and he scored
a very beautiful goal.
"It was a volley, with his left foot, into the corner, and we lost 1-0 to Barcelona in the Nou Camp.
"We played very well, but Zlatan decided the game with that beautiful goal. I still remember it."
The City boss said he believed his side could take advantage of the
fact that PSG wrapped up the French title with so many games to spare,
adding: "Since winning the league, Paris have lost some games because
they haven't been playing with the same 100 percent intensity.
"Maybe they are now relaxed and refreshed and will play better in the
Champions League, or maybe it will have a different effect. We will see
when we play them."
