ATLETICO MADRID WOULD LOVE TO SIGN DIEGO COSTA

Diego Costa arguing with ref

Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has reiterated that he would love to bring Chelsea striker Diego Costa back to the club this summer, though he admits that any such move would be "difficult" to make happen.
Costa has won a Premier League title and League Cup as well as becoming a fan favourite since moving to Stamford Bridge from Atletico in the summer of 2014, but reports persist that the 27-year-old has failed to settle in England and has grown frustrated with media coverage of his provocative style of play.
Chelsea's stance is that Costa -- who is expected to return from a three-game suspension to start against Manchester City on Saturday -- is happy at Stamford Bridge and remains an integral part of the club's plans under incoming first team head coach Antonio Conte next season.
And while he still speaks to Costa from time to time and insists he would welcome him back to the Spanish capital, Cerezo believes the 27-year-old will be hard to prise away from Chelsea -- even after the most disappointing season of the Roman Abramovich era.
"I think it's difficult but as far as we are concerned we would love it if he came back here," Cerezo told the Daily Mail. "It's the Atleti way. We have a magnificent relationship with all ex-coaches and players. I went to see [Diego] Simeone in Argentina when he was at River Plate, that is the way it is with Costa.
"Whether he can come back or not is another thing but the relationship has always been fantastic. He is OK because he is at a good club. I don't know whether they will be in the Champions League this year."
Atletico managed to ward off Chelsea's interest in Simeone prior to Conte's appointment earlier this month, and Cerezo says he plans to keep the Argentine in the Spanish capital for the long term because he is "the perfect coach for Atletico Madrid."
'There is no expiry date [for Atletico and Simeone]," Cerezo insisted. "He signed for another five years last summer and if both sides are happy -- and I think they are -- there is no need to think the situation is going to change. When this contract ends we will ask him to renew and I think he will.
"He was a great player for us. When the team was losing he would pick up the ball in the middle of the pitch, drive forward and get everyone out of their seat. Football is his life and his passion."
