ITS 40 FOR RONALDO AS MESSI PLAYS CATCH UP IN GOALS FOR THE SEASON

Portugal superstar Cristiano Ronaldo's strike in Real Madrid's 2-0 win over Roma on Tuesday night took the forward to 40 goals for the season in all competitions.
Ronaldo, 31, opened the scoring in the 64th minute for his 90th Champions League goal, slotting home from close range courtesy of Lucas Vazquez's assist from the right.
Ronaldo has now scored 40 times in 36 appearances in all competitions, with 27 of those strikes coming in La Liga and 13 in Europe.
His rival at Barcelona, Lionel Messi, has 35 goals to his name so far this season from 35 appearances for Luis Enrique's team.
Ronaldo netted 61 times in all competitions last campaign, four more than Messi -- the former Manchester United player has now reached 40 goals in each of his last six seasons at the Bernabeu.
