Stoke city manager Mark
Hughes has confirmed that Stoke are in talks to sign Porto's Giannelli
Imbula, with sources telling CCS that the Potters have agreed a
club-record fee of £18 million with the Portuguese side.
He said: "We are hopeful. It is fair to say it has progressed
significantly this morning. Last night [Sunday] it was seemingly
difficult. Hopefully at some point in the day we will be about to
announce a big signing.
"He is a good young player, has power, has a good range of passing. He will come in and add to the quality we have got.
"It is not something we jumped into at the last minute. A lot of work
has been done in the last month. It is never easy with these deals, but
the hope is he is joining as we speak and we will get it concluded."
