Elsewhere, Mauricio Pochettino's Tottenham Hotspur, who are second in England's top flight, will take on Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund.
Sevilla, who have won the competition in the last two seasons, face Swiss outfit FC Basel, while Gary Neville's Valencia are in action against La Liga counterparts Athletic Bilbao.
The two teams have never before met in a European competition.
Spurs comfortably dispatched Serie A high-flyers Fiorentina on Thursday, with goals from Erik Lamela, Ryan Mason and a Gonzalo Rodriguez own goal sealing a 3-0 victory at White Hart Lane, while Thomas Tuchel's Dortmund booked their place in the last-16 with a comfortable 3-0 aggregate win over Porto.
The tie will pits current second-place in the Premier League against second-place in the Bundesliga but, while Spurs are level on points with Arsenal and just two shy of leaders Leicester, Dortmund are marooned eight points behind Bayern Munich and 15 clear of Hertha BSC.
The German club have a fine history in Europe but have never won the Europa League (or UEFA Cup, as the competition was known before the 2009-10 season).
Spurs won the UEFA Cup in both 1972 and 1984.
