Asked if he would want to go to Chelsea, Koeman said: "If Guus puts a good word in for me, that would be a big influence."
"It is certainly something that I always have at the back of my mind," he said. "I always want to achieve the highest possible level. That has happened in Holland and that's what I'd really like to achieve abroad."
Southampton lie five points and four Premier League places above 14th-placed Chelsea in the table as they prepare to take on Louis van Gaal's Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday.
