Robert Lewandowski has played down rumors that he is about to
move to Manchester United to solve their striking problems.
But Lewandowski said the Bavarian giants would always be ahead of any English team in his eyes.
"I don't see any difference between Bayern and England's big clubs," Lewandowski told the Manchester Evening News.
"Of course, the English clubs have plenty of money to spend -- but
they always had a lot of money and Bayern have always been able to
compete.
"There is not a single club in England that will catch Bayern just because they have more money all of a sudden."
German legend Beckenbauer added that Real Madrid were likely future suitors for the 27-year-old.
"Robert Lewandowski has been mentioned as a possible candidate for Real Madrid," Beckenbauer told DPA.
But the ex-Germany national coach and captain added that
Lewandowski's teammate Thomas Muller was never likely to leave the
Allianz Arena.
"[Muller] has assured he wants to continue at Bayern, which will make the fans want him even more," Beckenbauer said.
Chasing a third successive Bundesliga crown, Bayern have an eight-point lead over Dortmund at the top of the table.
